re:connect
Awakening

Online Access

The concert will be available at 7.30pm on Thursday 10th December, and for 30 days following.

The penultimate concert in the re:connect series explores the theme of ‘awakening’. Alongside works by Sibelius and Nielsen, the performance features Wagner’s Siegfried Idyll. Written as a birthday gift for his wife Cosima, she woke on Christmas morning 1869 to it being performed on the stairs of their home. The concert closes with Mozart’s Symphony No 34, the last symphony written in Salzburg before ‘awakening’ his independent career in Vienna and beyond
